Divorced Parents/Step Parents in the Wording

Wording for a wedding invitation has evolved over the years, changing from rigid guidelines to accommodate more modern lifestyles and situations.

Parents (especially divorced parents) may both contribute to the wedding expenses, but not necessarily be on the invitation as a "couple". Their names would be stated separately as in example 1.

Here is another alternative where only the parents (not their companion/spouse) are listed.

How about a step parent? If close (and agreeable to the bride) the step mother or father can be included on the invitation.

Protocol should never be pushed to the point that it causes anger among families. It's important to put aside differences and come together for the sake of the bride and groom's happiness on their special day.
