Your Own Personal Wedding Florist Advisor!

Hi! How would you like to have your own personal wedding florist to help you create your own beautiful flowers?

I have been a florist for over fifteen years. I am here to tell you that (with some help) you can do your own bridal flowers! Will it be hard work? Yes. Will you save money? Yes. Will you show me how? Yes . . . that's what this site is all about.

How do I know you can create your own designs? Because this is the way I started. I haven't gone to a fancy flower designing school. I didn't take an on-line course (Uh . . . the internet wasn't as big then! I didn't even know how to get on line!)

I just bought some books and began to learn the hard way. I was soon doing silk wedding flowers out of my home.

In 1994 I saw a Help Wanted ad in the paper for a local florist. I went and applied . . . and took along flowers I was working on at the time. She hired me on the spot.

Working with fresh flowers was a whole new experience. I fell in love with them. Kathleen Monical (my boss) was one of the most talented designers I have ever seen. She and I became fast friends - and stayed that way for many years. (God bless her, she went home to the Lord last summer and I dearly miss her!)

I retired in October, 2006 as a manager of a busy flower shop and the head florist designer. I have had experience in quoting and designing weddings, ordering flowers and dealing with all kinds of wholesalers. I have done many designs, including funeral work, holiday designs, get well, FTD, Teleflora and 1-800-FLOWERS. One thing I've learned? You don't really want to be a designer during Mother's Day or Valentine's Day! Ha! Ha!

I have created many beautiful bouquets and have loved every one of my brides. I have designed florals ranging from under $100 to a big blowout that was over $7,700! (This is big for our neck of the woods!)

I left primarily because of health reasons (I have fibromyalgia) and to stay home with my grandson! I couldn't bear the thought of him being in daycare.

This is Caleb Andrew and the joy of my life! God is GOOD!

I now am a wedding florist working out of my home. I haven't advertised much - but brides seem to pour in the doors!

I decided to become a virtual wedding florist to the brides on the internet. I may not be an expert in everything with flowers, but I am just a phone call away from flower wholesalers, designers, floral manufacturers and others who ARE experts in their fields.

I belong to the SAF (Society of American Florists) and was privilaged to go to Florida last year at their annual convention. That keeps every wedding florist on his or her toes. You see new flower varieties, the best of the best designing competitions and get to rub shoulders with EVERYBODY in the business!

The most fun is seeing what new products are to come out in the next year and see what will be hot in the wedding market.

I hope to go this September again (as long as I don't have a wedding booked!)

So I'll be ready to pass on to all of you brides what I've seen and learned for 2008!

Bookmark this site now. I add to it as often as I can between weddings.

God bless, congratulations on your upcoming event and . . . let's get busy designing!!
