Wedding Arch with Greenery

Church Wedding Decorations

Sponsored Links

This wedding arch with greenery provides a lovely backdrop to a indoor or outdoor wedding ceremony. This simple wedding arch was placed in two large terra cotta pots, weighted with rocks to keep it stable.

The rocks were hidden by removing white potted mums and tucking them in the top of the terra cotta pot.

This wedding arch with greenery is made with plumosa fern - very cheap and economical compared to covering a wedding arch with all flowers. I attach the ferns with Zip Tags. You find these in all colors (even green!) in your electrical department of your local hardware store. Just ask for the plastic strips that are meant to bind electrical wires together.

If you wish, weave ribbon or tulle loosely in and out of the fern.Rather than wind tightly round and round upwards, tuck here or there for a more casual look to avoid the ribbon looking like a "candy cane" effect.

Be careful . . the long draping fern also has tiny thorns and can snag on the tulle. It's not usually too bad to handle. If you prefer a greenery without thorns, ask for tree fern. Very similar look, but looks more like a miniature "tree" than a long draping fern.

See how the ribbon on the arch was coordinated with the same ribbon tied into bows and attached to the chairs near the front of the ceremony area.

Create a different look. An arch with greenery could be made using salal tips, christmas pines, draping ivy, spengeri and more. The cost is dependent on what kind of greenery you choose.

If you want to get more color, wire in lights, ribbon or a even a few silk flowers. It won't cost much more, but adds a lot!
