Supplies for tall centerpiece

Hello,
I like how the top picture of this centerpiece was designed:

http://www.wedding-flowers-and-reception-ideas.com/table-centerpiece.html

I have a tall square vase that is 20" x 4". How do I keep a floral topper on top of a tall square vase without it falling into the vase? I see most of your pieces are for cylinder shapped vases. Size of vase: Outer lip is 4", inner lip is 3.5". I prefer to not use glue or clay to keep the top in place since I want to easily place the flower toppers on top of the vase the day of the wedding.

Thanks,
Sharon

Hi, Sharon.

It is advisable to transport the vase and centerpiece separately to the reception hall. Then you line the top of the vase with floral clay and press the arrangement to the top of the vase.

The floral clay is an important key to keeping the arrangement from toppling over.

I like to use a clear extension rod that fits down the entire length of the vase.

The floral clay, however, if fresh should provide a good adhesive attachment if you prefer not to use the rods.

I also take an additional precaution of placing a thin roll of clay to the bottom of the vase and pressing it down firmly on top of a mirror. This adds more stability to the vase since it very top heavy once the flowers are attached.
