Reception Decorating Ideas

Reception decorating ideas that will "fit" your wedding theme takes a lot of digging and research. It's the small details that add up to a memorable wedding reception.

If you're planning on a Do It Yourself wedding, consider using a wreath as a centerpiece. They can be done up several days in advance, placed on the table the night before and still stay looking beautiful throughout your wedding!

This simple topiary isn't really that difficult to make. Alstroemeria is a relatively cheap flower and you can pick up various attractive containers at local gardening or discount centers. Gather several stems of Alstroemeria together and tie with a bow. Keep fresh in buckets of water and insert each bunch into containers the night before the wedding.

If you plan to do your own centerpieces, but will be really pressed for time, search for large, interesting glassware. Although they may seem "pricey", with a few decorative wire accents and a minimum of flowers, your centerpieces can come together very quickly.

You can advertise and resell your glassware later, recouping much of your cost while having a gorgeous centerpiece!

Covering containers with interesting fabric can add interest to your table centerpieces. You can incorporate patterns and color schemes that bring in your wedding color scheme nicely. Look for fabric with textures and novel patterns to spice up your tables!

Don't forget that even a single cut flower can have quite an impact. Buy small glassware intended for voltive candles and drop a single cut flower in it. Scatter these on tables or other areas that you want to fill in with extra color.

Here is an idea I've used several times and the brides were always delighted with the look. Set up a "vase within a vase". In this case, put a round cylinder vase inside a clear bubble bowl. Add decorative rocks or marbles in the inside of the bubble vase, anchoring the cylinder vase. Fill the cylinder vase about half full of water. Drop in hand tied bouquets that have been prepared in advance into the cylinder vase. The look is very cool - but the labor and setup time is kept to a minimum.
