Make Your Bridal Bouquet
Easy DIY Flower Arranging Tutorials

You CAN make your bridal bouquet yourself! It's not as hard as it looks . . . but you must be sure to treat your flowers as a professional would if you want them to last throughout your wedding day.
It is a misconception that wedding flowers must be arranged on the day of your wedding. That's hardly true, since most florists begin wedding work several days in advance and store them in coolers. If you begin with farm fresh flowers (and I do mean fresh!) - you will find that the flowers will last for a week or more after opening. Think about it - florists send out flowers every day and they last in baskets and vases for up to a week in normal, everyday temperatures.
I will show you how to make a delightfully simple bouquet that will be stylish, easy to make and smell wonderful. I begin with an
Elegant Bouquet Holder
made by Oasis and a coil of
Decorative Wire
that comes in a wide range of colors to choose from.

Since keeping the Oasis foam wet is the highest priority to keeping flowers fresh, I love these stylish holders because of a built-in wicking system. They come in three different styles plus are available in both gold and silver.
The cap screws off the bottom, showing a hollow handle with a built in wick. After the bouquet is finished, you simply pop the cap off and rest the bouquet holder in a vase of water. Ta-dah! The bouquet will continue to water itself, giving the DIY bride one less thing to worry about!

Be sure to soak the bouquet in water properly treated with fresh flower food, such as this bottle of Crystal Clear. This is an excellent product and comes in 8 ounce size - much better for brides than the gallons or drum sizes usually purchased by florists from their wholesalers.
It has a handy squeeze bottle top - simply squeeze, fill and mix with water as directed on the label. Remember - too much or too little is about as bad as not using any to begin with. Follow the directions to the letter!

Don't force the holder down into the water - let it absorb the water up naturally. It only takes minutes and won't cause dry spots that forcing it may produce.
Remember after you make your bridal bouquet to place it in a vase treated with the same flower food. This product is fairly inexpensive and is well worth taking the effort to see that your flowers last as long as possible!
If you don't have a professional stand to hold the bouquet, use a weighted vase and wedge in a brick of foam to insert the holder into. Remember - the flowers will get top heavy quickly. You don't want it to fall over and damage your flowers, so weigh it down BEFORE beginning.
