Make a Biedermeier Bridal Bouquet

Make a Biedermeier bridal bouquet - a uniquely structured arrangement of flowers in a circular pattern. This lovely floral arrangement isn't at all hard to do and you can substitute the flowers of your choice.

Start with a Grande Belle Bouquet holder . You need the largest head of Oasis florist foam you can get - because this is a lot of flowers!

Secure your wedding holder in either a professional bouquet stand or a narrow necked vase weighted down with rock or marbles. It must be able to hold steady, as this bouquet has a lot of flowers in it and will tip forward if it is not secured.

Cut your outer flowers to the length that you want your finished diameter to be. These will be the "frame" for your finished bouquet. This one is made rather large, so scale down if you prefer a smaller bouquet.

I first inserted stems of Monte Casino, a small daisy -like flower that is usually used as a filler. Notice that I did NOT clean all the green leaves off - only right where I inserted the stems into the bouquet holder.

Continue to insert the outer ring of flowers. They should face outward completely so the heads are visible from the sides of the bouquet. To make a biedermeier bridal bouquet well rounded - you must keep moving the flower heads up a level. Thus when it is viewed from all sides, it has a smooth dome shape - not a flat surface.

Start your next circle of flower stems a little shorter and the heads should begin a curve up - the bouquet will finish with a "dome" shape when viewed from the side.

These pink spray roses are a perfect choice, because they open wide like a garden rose. Watch out - they do have thorns!

I next added a ring of purple static, cutting it shorter and rounding out my "dome" shape. Yellow standard roses followed. You can see by the photos that the heads are now facing almost completely forward.

The final flowers were stephanotis, a favorite with brides because of their lovely fragrance and delicate petals. Be sure not to touch the flower heads with your fingers. The oil from your hands can easily bruise or brown these flowers.

They must be inserted onto a stephanotis stem (similar to a "cotton swab" for flowers). I inserted a pearl headed pin (carefully clipped short with diagonal cutters) and inserted deep into the throat of the stephanotis bloom. These final flowers will be directly in the middle and facing straight outward.

Be sure to finish your bouquet by spraying with a flower sealant, such as Finishing Touch. This important step locks in the moisture in your blooms and keeps them looking fresh throughout your wedding day! If you make your bouquet up a day or two early, just keep the Oasis foam wet by dribbling water on it frequently and re-misting with the Finishing Touch.

Store in a cool air-conditioned room or basement and -ENJOY ALL THE COMPLIMENTS!
