It can be so hard

by Megan
(Fort Worth, Texas)

My fiance and I are both in college and neither one of our parents have the money to have this big elaborate wedding. As a little girl I always dreamed of having a princess wedding but obviously as I got older it changed. We have set a budget of $5000. Honestly don't know if we can even afford that. One thing I have looked into is flowers. Flowers are a huge cost in weddings. I searched the internet pricing florists etc...There are 2 things I will be doing.
1) Except for my bouquet and possibly my bridesmaids everything will be silk flowers. If you think about it the flowers you buy will just die. If you use silk arrangements you can keep one for sentimental reasons. Also Look into local wholesale flower marts. You can buy by the stem and make your own flowers which is cheaper than getting them made. Hope this help. Best Wishes!

Megan,

My fiancee and I have the same thinking on this as you! This is a second marriage for both of us, but my first wedding. We're using silk flowers as well. We're also doing everything ourselves. It's time consuming, but worth the money we're saving. I work full-time and go to school full-time, but even working all the time we don't have the money to spend on a lavish wedding. To me its about the 2 getting wed, bot about the money. Good luck to you and I hope that your wedding is everything you want and more!

Such a cute pic of you and your guy!! I know what you're saying, cause we have to keep in a budget, too.
