How to use the sisal or angel hair in bouquets

by susan
(Ellijay, Georgia, USA)

I am doing a cascade for the bride. She wants whites and some yellow(was considering yellow spider mums and white/creme roses, spray roses, daisies maybe hydrangea as well .Also a bit of lavender/ purple. What to use to bring out this color?

Can you suggest? The wedding is inside church , afternoon in May, The bride's dress is formal. Reception at homestead of groom. Tented..more casual, but casual elegant. Colors are yellow and lavender.

I saw your alter tutorial and am doing two of the mostly white (with the glads for the height, spider mums and roses, and hydrangea) and wanted to add a little more color..just a little ... purple or lavender here and maybe some more yellow..or maybe the yellow spider mums will be enough yellow. Also what greenery? don't particularly like ferns, wanted variegated ivy, but what else?

Also wanted to use the sisal or angel hair in bouquets which brings me back to the original topic of my quesiton to you.

Thank you,
Susan

Hi, Susan!

Consider pale lavender freesia and white iris (which should be available during her wedding month):

The freesia has a lovely scent. It also comes in yellow. If she wants a deeper purple - consider miniature iris (but they only are available in that deep purple).

Lilacs should be available in both white and purple - here there are mixed with a lavender rose and are so pretty:

Have you considered hydrangeas for your base flower? They are stunning - the pale green or white would be a perfect foil with soft lavender freesia, soft ivory rosebuds and and a touch of yellow.

If you like varigated greenery - consider Italian ruscus - I love it. Now in this bouquet it's been misted silver, but it really is a varigated greenish-white:

The sisal is so much fun to use. You crunch it, bunch it and shape it with your hands, creating a "nest" for the flowers. Use decorative wire to bind it to the hand of bouquet holders. The hot pink bouquet is the sisal. The orange/hot pink bouquet is the angel hair (very very fine) wire:

Louann
