How to Make a Corsage

Assembling your Corsage

Learning how to make a corsage isn't that difficult - it just takes a little time. Once you've done a few, it gets easier and easier! If you haven't seen the page on how to tape and wire your flowers, check it out first by clicking here.

Once you have several flower stems (with filler flowers and leaves) taped and ready to go, let's begin assembling!

Take two taped flowers and lay together. The leaves should be to the back and one head should be lower (stairstepped down) from the top rose.

If the taped stems begin to get bulky or thick, snip off part of the higher placed corsage. The goal is to tape securely, but keep the wire bulk down as much as possible.

Tape both stems together down to the bottom tip.

Once the stems are securely taped, either add another flower head the same way, or get ready to add your corsage bow. Note the "V" area (circled in red). This is where your taped stem of the bow will go into.

Insert the taped stems of the bow thru the "V" section and pull tightly from the other side.

Once the bow is fitted snugly under the flower heads, bend the wires down and tape the wire stems against the flower stems.

Fit one more corsage leaf under the bow and tape.

Curl the finished stems up in a spiral.

If you want a wristlet, attach the metal prongs to the corsage before curling the stems. First bend the upper prongs and slip around the neck of the higher flower. Pinch shut with a pair of needlenose pliers.

Pinch the lower set of prongs around the bottom wires of the corsage. Squeeze with needlenose pliers. Retape with the corsage tape over the metal on the bottom of the wristlet.
