Gerbera daisy question

by Mary
(Iowa)

When making a all gerb wedding bouquet, is it better to use a bouquet holder or make it a hand tied? By using the bouquet holder does that preserve the life of the bouquet?

Gerbera daisies are an extremely thirsty flower (as are most flowers that have a hollow "straw like" stem. Using a bouquet holder with Oasis will certainly extend the life of the flowers (especially if you plan on outside pictures on a warm day!).

I love the new SuperWet bouquet holders. They have a built in wick - so you can do the flowers a day or so early, take off the bottom cap on the holder and drop into a vase just like a bouquet. The wick sucks up the water and keeps the Oasis wet. Awesome!!

If you like the hand tied look, simply buy the SuperWet in green and create a mock hand-tied look. You can then have the best of both worlds - beautiful daisies that stay "fresh as a daisy" all day (and night!) long.

I DON'T recommend using daisies as worn flowers - such as boutonnieres or corsages. I tried to talk the bride out of it - but she begged for at least one for her groom. I misted well with a flower sealant - but you can see that even before the wedding the pink gerbera (without a water source) started drooping. :(
