Charity Bridal Shower Theme

Does your bridal couple "have it all"? How about a charity bridal shower theme? Instead of buying one more toaster or blender, your couple can feel good about a party in their honor that donates the money that would have been spent on gifts going to their favorite charity instead!

In order to have fun "collecting" the funds, set up a charity auction, complete with items to bid for. Scour tag sales and local Goodwill stores for the most absurd articles you can find - the more ridiculous the better!

Give numbered auction fans to all the arriving guests and set up the room like a fine auction house. Everyone will have a wonderful time, egging each other on to spend more and more for the silly items.

There are many worthwhile charities to choose from, but be sure your honored couple have the final say in where the funds are disbursed to.

Another twist on this idea to have to your guests, instead of an auction, bringing the actual items to donate. This could include dog and cat food for the local animal shelter, canned goods for the neighborhood food pantry or "pledges" of time to donate for "building houses" for families in need.

Favors could include literature from the animal shelter, small books on how to conserve energy or a watching a slideshow of the "Big Brother - Big Sister" program. Let your mind begin to whirl!
