Boutonniere stephanotis picks are needed to create a lapel posy with this fragrant (but delicate!) little flower. A classic favorite, stephanotis blooms wilt quickly without a water supply.
Pre-soak the picks in water that has been treated with a flower preservative such as Crystal Clear.
Be sure to wash your hands before handling the fragile flower heads. Oils from your fingers can cause the blooms to brown. (I tend to mist my fingers with Finishing Touch, a spray that helps prevent browning and petal transparency).
Push the pick gently into the bottom of the throat of the stephanotis until it fills the entire flower.
The flower is ready to use. Many florists tape the pick from the bottom of the flower down to the green stem.
